​​​​​How do I give a tour as a gift?
Tours make great gifts! Gift Certificates are available by clicking on "GIFT CERTIFICATES" above or on the top of any page.

How many people usually are on tour?

We generally host groups between 4-8 on our tours. We are also able to arrange private tours for any size group,  minimum size two people.

What does a typical tour look like?  
Your tour begins at Theatre Square and winds through Petaluma's Historic Downtown and beyond.

Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?
Yes, advanced ticket purchase is required. To ensure that you get the date you prefer, please book well in advance through our online registration system.

What's included in my tour.... should I tip the tour guide?
Your ticket covers food and/or drink tastings at each establishment featured on your tour. *** Gratuities are optional. Your ticket price does not cover a tip for your food-loving guide. If you’ve enjoyed the tour, please show your guide a little appreciation. 

What kind of foods will we eat?
Each tour is a unique experience where our featured chefs choose a dish to serve and beverages to  highlight. their venues. Many of our featured restaurants have relationships with local farms and change their menus to reflect the best in fresh, local ingredients. Our focus is locally owned, locally sourced.

How physically fit do I need to be to enjoy the tour?

Sometimes we walk as little as a few blocks, and sometimes we walk from one side of downtown to the other. It all depends on which establishments happen to be available to host us on a particular tour. There are no hills, but there may be stairs, and seating is available at all restaurant stops. *** Total walk... approx. 1 to1.5 miles during the 3 hour tour.

What if it rains?
Tours are held rain or shine. The weather here in Petaluma is pretty mild so it makes Petaluma a great town for planning a walking tour. Always check your local weather reports for up to date weather. If its going to rain, bring an umbrella. If it's windy, bring a windbreaker and your favorite cap. 

Where should I park?
The best place to park is in the free parking garage located at C Street between First and Second Streets.  It's all day parking on every level. The Keller Street Garage is located on Keller Street between Western & Washington.  The bottom level parking is 4 hour, the higher levels allow for longer parking time.​ Street parking is 2 hour parking, so this will not be your best option.

Can I bring a child on the tour?
Participants must be adults and, to consume alcohol, must be 21 years old to participate in Petaluma Food Tours. Families please inquire about a private food tour through our Contact page.

What if I have dietary restrictions?
Vegetarians are easily accommodated. Nut allergies should be communicated to us as far in advance as possible. Lactose intolerance is accommodated at most places, but a visit to our local cheese shop may be on your itinerary if you’re on a food tour. Guests with celiac disease should contact us before purchasing your tour ticket. Guests who are not Celiac but who choose to avoid gluten can sometimes be accommodated if you notify us in advance.

Please note- if you’re gluten, dairy, nut, and animal free, you might not be able to enjoy everything served on a food tour.

How much food will we eat on the tour?
Each featured venue will provide a taste of a signature dish or dishes. These portions will vary according to each tour stop, but will be a minimum of a small plate per person, per restaurant, which is enough for most people to feel satisfied at the end of a tour. If you have room for a light meal after your tour, please consider letting your guide make you a VIP reservation.

Can I get a refund?
Tickets are non-refundable. No partial credits or rescheduling is allowed. It is your responsibility to show up at the meet-up location, on time. Tours depart promptly at the scheduled time.
